Sunday. January 04, 2009: Church and Seafood

Incubus

Mood: Sick but good.
Weather: Overcast but with a decent amount of sunshine.

So its Sunday, Church, going out to eat and just relaxing. Our pastor, Stephen Pearson, spoke of how in the race to Heaven we need to be an endurance runner instead of a sprinter. I really liked the metaphor because it was easy to follow since I run cross country and track.

I was disappointed that the aforementioned beautiful girl didn't get to come. Also since the cellphone privilege was for only one day I have no way of contacting her. I am excited that she remained flirtatious yesterday. Unfortunately, the Catch 22 fo the matter is that she's already in a relationship. Not a serious one, they've only been dating 2 or 3 weeks. She has decided to be completely honest with him about it and last I heard they were going to talk about it. Also something that made us both feel guilty was that his Grandfather has been diagnosed with cancer and has to go through chemo.

Anyways, after church we went to Long John Silvers. I had the popcorn shrimp. It tasted good, but its left me with a bit of an upset stomach. As I feasted on my deliciously frugal meal, I read the faux newspaper set underneath my food used to promote the restaurants new London Style Fish 'n Chips. The advertisement capitalized on stereotypes of a cockney Brit. In fact it was so blatantly stereotypical that I am sure if any actual British person read it they would be offended.

I finally straightened up my disaster of a room. It wasn't easy. I was very surprised how out of control I had let the mess become. Clothes laid everywhere, trash in the strangest of places, and papers from MIDDLE SCHOOL were still in there. Which is strange considering I've only lived in the room for a little over a year and a half. It looked like a frat boy dorm room. Not very pretty. But at least I won't be ashamed to have friends over now.

I am adding a new section at the end of my blogs called the Band of the Week. It will have a specific band that I like and a short description of the band along with 3 of my favorite songs by the band. So without further adue the first Band of the Week is, (drum roll please)..... Incubus.

Incubus consists of Brandon Boyd: Lead Vocals, Mike Einziger: Lead Guitar, Joe Pasillas: Drums, Chris Kilmore: Turntables/Keyboard, and Ben Kenney: Bass. Boyd, Einzinger, and Pasillas have been playing together since they were in the 10th grade. They released their first album Fungus Amongus in 1997 and have released 5 other albums since. "They are known for their eclectic sound, balancing experimental and progressive qualities with pop appeal, earning praise for their ability to change and evolve their music with every subsequent release." (Wikipedia) While dealing with topics from drugs to romance the band keeps an overall optimistic attitude in most of their songs.
